MAWNAN FILM CLUB
On Friday 22nd July at 7.30pm we will be showing ‘Promising Young Woman’. This is a 2020 American black comedy thriller written, co-produced, and directed by Emerald Fennell in her feature directorial debut. It stars Carey Mulligan as a young unstable woman haunted by a traumatic past as she navigates balancing forgiveness and vengeance. It won both the Oscar and the BAFTA for Fennell for Best Original Screenplay and the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film.
In advance of the screening all attendees will need to have renewed or taken out a new membership at a cost of £6.00, which includes admission to the film. The charge for existing members is £4.00. SPORTS AND LEISURE ACTIVITIES
RUN MAWNAN
After an enforced break of two years owing to Covid, we are delighted to announce that this year Falmouth Rotary Club's Run Mawnan event will be happening on Sunday 25 September. A fun event for all of the village with a one mile run for children and 5k and 10k road races. Entries will open on 1 June but put the date in your diary now!
And don’t forget ParkRun Penryn, every Saturday from 9am at the Penryn University Campus. Starts at Tremough House before heading off and down the long drive and back up.
Helford Passage Regatta – pencil in your diary for Saturday 6th August. And whilst your pencil’s out Falmouth Week this year starts on 5th August ; the Bay Fleet race is on Sunday 7th and usually finishes up on or near the mouth of the Helford … with Helford River Sailing Club hosting the after event refreshments.

The Parish Council also post items and invitations on their facebook page (www.facebook.com/MawnanParishCouncil) for events and opportunities open to the parish community.
On Fri 8th July, 2022 @ 7:30pm Trebah Gardens has Estella - inspired by Dickens’ classic novel ‘Great Expectations’, where three captivating actor-musicians lead a radical re-imagining set against a backdrop of live music and song. Then on the 21st & 22nd everyone’s summer favourite ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’
Budock Water Fun Day - Saturday 2nd July 2022 from 2pm @ Budock Playing Field
They’ll be hosting the usual games, stalls, BBQ, bar, and fundraising activities - it's open to all, so come along and get involved! With fun for all the family, we'll have facepainting, crockery smash, a bottle tombola, coconut shy, candy floss, hook-a-duck, and the highly anticipated running races with medals for the top performers and much more! All proceeds from the day go towards maintaining the playing field for all to enjoy.
