Tuesday Lunch Club - We are looking for people to create a new catering group, once every eight weeks. Also, would you like to join our “Lunches”, are you on your own or a couple who would like the company of others and benefit from having a meal cooked for them? MAWNAN VILLAGE SHOW - RAISED £3337.25p, A DONATION OF £200 to the Mawnan Memorial Hall

GARDEN CLUB GROW YE! GROW YE!  Mawnan Memorial Hall  on Thursday 24th October  at 7.30pm , were you will be able to hear a talk by Darren Dickie from Trebah Garden, the talk will start promptly at 7.30pm.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS Dance raised £330.00 towards the cost of installing new power points in the Square and at Lowenna Fields, the target amount for this work to be carried out is a total of £3000. The switch on of the Christmas lights will be on Friday 6th December from 5.00pm in the village square, there will be a number of stalls, plus a very special visitor.

Mawnan Neighbourhood Development Plan:  In the last Mawnan Diary we told you that the NDP draft document had been sent to Cornwall Council for screening and comment, and we are delighted that we have passed this first test!  Now we are working on turning it into a finished plan which we are expecting to complete by December.  We will schedule a steering group meeting for early November to keep you all up-to-date, so watch the next Mawnan Diary for details of this meeting.  Updates will also go out to all on our mailing list; if you don’t already receive our regular updates you can still subscribe by emailing info@mawnan.org

Mawnan Mothers' Union - Wednesday 9th October  Our meeting at 2.30 pm in the Methodist Schoolroom  is "A Good Read", sharing our favourite book. There will be a bring and buy. and everyone is welcome.

Wednesday 30th October Holy Communion at 10.00 am in St Michael's

During this month we are collecting new winter/thermal socks for men and women to support the work of St Petroc's amongst the homeless in Cornwall. If you would like to donate a pair there are collection boxes in Mawnan Maid and in each church. with the cold weather approaching we would be very grateful for your support with this project. RAINBOWS, BROWNIES & GUIDES:  These groups are in need of HELP! Anyone who can spare time during the week or every other week, your help with the running of these groups will be greatly appreciated. Currently there are no Rainbows in Mawnan Smith as there is now one willing to run a Rainbow Group. If you would like further information please email  carricksouth@girlguidingcornwall.org.uk

Also needing help are the Community First Responders, who are trained to give basic life support in our community until the ambulance arrives. Without new volunteers we may lose this service.  Mark & Jo Parson will be happy to hear from anyone who wants an insight into what they do with the view to joining up 01326 250152. 

MAWNAN CHESS CLUB - Mawnan Chess club meets in the Red Lion Pub every Wednesday at 7.30 pm all are welcome to come and join.

MAWNAN FILM CLUB  - On Friday 25th October at 7.30pm we will be screening the 2019 film ‘Rocket man’, a biographical musical film based on the life of musician Elton John.  It stars Taron Egerton as Elton John, with Jamie Bell as his song-writing partner Bernie Taupin.  The film follows Elton in his early days as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his musical partnership with Taupin. £6.00 for new members and £3.00 for existing members.

Mawnan WI - We are lucky to have an award-winning Town Clerk in Falmouth - we have invited Mark Williams to talk about local government and its relevance to you. He will be at our Monthly Meeting on Thursday 10th October. We hope non-members and visitors will join us at 7.15pm in Mawnan Memorial Hall.
Friday 11th October - save the date for the Village Harvest Supper which will start at 7.15pm.
The educational visit for members will be to Penlee House Gallery on Thursday 17th October.
Saturday 19th October - Cake, Chat and Company at 2.30pm. Do come along for a lovely afternoon tea.

Walking Netball club, every Thursday (if dry) at Mawnan school 3.45 -4.45. and it's free and also a lot of fun. If interested contact Marion 250267.

Mawnan History Group present an illustrated talk on Wednesday November 6th  entitled “ The Great Cornish Conglomerate”  by Philip . M. Hosken, This covers this fascinating history of the Nineteenth Century  story of The company of Hosken, Trevithick, Polkinhorn & Co Ltd. Meeting is at the Mawnan Memorial Hall 7.30p.m. Members free. visitors £3.00.

MAWNAN FRIENDSHIP CLUB - Wednesday 2nd October Birthday Lunch Halfway House Rame. 16th  Chrissie & Eric Guitar and Songs.  30th A walk along the Historic Bude Canal slides and talk by Alan and Anne Cox.

A special event on Wednesday 6th November at 2pm for all, to come and support the Flicka Donkey Sanctuary who will be selling Christmas cards and gifts to raise funds to feed the donkeys over the winter period. All meetings start at 2pm unless otherwise advised.



Mawnan Bowls Club - All are welcome to try their hand at this very sociable game - tuition and equipment provided, we also offer Indoor Bowls.
