HELFORD MARINE CONSERVATION GROUP : Helford in Antiquity
Christian Boulton, author of the book ‘Five Million Tides’, which brings to life the incredible history of human activity around the Helford, will be talking about his connection to the river, via zoom on Saturday November 13th. The talk, organised by Helford Marine Conservation Group, begins at 7.30pm.
The zoom link is free for HMCG members and under 18s. For everyone else the fee is £5. For more details and to register an interest please contact email@example.com
‘Five Million Tides’ celebrates the story of the Helford from the Stone Age to the dawning of the 21st century. The Helford was one of Europe’s most significant waterways during the Iron Age and Roman periods. It was also once a thriving seat of Celtic Christianity, but ultimately it would become synonymous with lawless seafarers. Christian has lived close to the shores of the Helford River for over 30 years. His wealth of knowledge will delight those interested in the surprisingly rich human history of this very special place.
